DESCRIPTION:\nAir Power Seminar – Space: The Next Battlefield?\nAlmost s
even decades ago\, the world’s radio operators were startled by a rhythm
ic\, persistent "beep" emanating from the stars. It was the signal from S
putnik I\, and it fundamentally changed the trajectory of human history. S
ince that moment\, space has rapidly evolved from a silent realm of scient
ific exploration into an indispensable—and increasingly contested—oper
ational domain.\nThe militarization of space is not a future concept\; it
is a historical reality. Operation Desert Storm in 1991 was dubbed the fir
st "space war\," demonstrating the unparalleled strategic edge provided by
GPS and satellite communications. Our reliance on the orbital domain only
deepened through complex operations like ISAF in Afghanistan\, leading to
a total paradigm shift in how we use—and defend—these assets.\nToday\
, the barrier to entry has plummeted. In Ukraine\, we have seen the revolu
tionary impact of commercial constellations like Starlink\, which provided
the essential backbone for command\, control\, and drone operations when
traditional infrastructure failed.  Fully integrated into missile and dro
ne "kill chains"\, defenders must rely on orbital early-warning and cyber-
to-space capabilities to intercept and neutralize threats.\nSpace is no lo
nger just a supporting element\; it is a critical center of gravity. In th
is rapidly shifting landscape\, where does Belgium stand?\nJoin us at the
upcoming Air Power Seminar as we dive into the Belgian Defence Space Doctr
ine. The air students of the 140th Div AStC have deeply researched each se
gment for our current capabilities—where we are—and define a potential
strategic trajectory—where we should be going. \nThe conference will ho
st multiple SME's offering their external view on the subject.\nExpect an
engaging look at how the Belgian Defence is preparing to secure its intere
sts and integrate space into future multi-domain operations.\n \n\nRegist
ration closes Apr 13th\, 2026\nVideo conferencing might not be available a
s the venue has changed this year.\nHowever\, a recording (CDN or VPN only
) will be  available on the Department Air Ops Share point: Air Power Sem
inar (mil.intra) after the end of the academic year\nNote: the conference
will be in English without simultaneous translation.\n \n\nhttps://event
